Untitled Entertainment presents…
MGMT & The Whitest Boy Alive, live in Singapore!
Following the stand out success of the Flaming Lips and The Raveonettes show in November, UNTITLED Entertainment are proud to announce that MGMT and The Whitest Boy Alive will continue the series of jaw-dropping double headers live in Singapore!
Revolving around the core duo of Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, MGMT have made a name as the hottest act around by creating a new musical odyssey inspired by the pair’s adventure…s on the frontiers of 21st century pop & roll consciousness.
MGMT’s debut album “Oracular Spectacular” established the Brooklyn natives as the new Kings on the indie block. The NME named it 2008’s #1 Album of the Year – with the album’s singles holding down three of the year’s Top 5 Singles spots: “Kids” as #1 Single of the Year, “Time To Pretend” at #4 and “Electric Feel” at #5. The NME went on to name “Time To Pretend” the #2 Single of the Decade.
Their 2010 follow up “Congratulations” cemented their place as psychedelic pop rockers of the finest ilk, and enhanced their reputation as a band that you simply cannot predict what they will do next. A comedy of manners of the mind, “Congratulations” finds MGMT’s droll humor simmering in songs full of melodic invention and lyrical mystery while opening up a luxurious new world of sound and sensation. Taking the decision not to release any singles from the album, the LP has made it onto numerous Album Of The Year hit lists and continues to garner the band new fans across the world.
Support on the night comes from The Whitest Boy Alive. A headline name in their own right, the quartet of Erlend Øye (who also plays in Kings of Convenience), Marcin Oz, Sebastian Maschat, and Daniel Nentwig formed in 2003 as an electronic dance project. Over the years, the band has evolved into an act with no programmed elements and specializes in the kind of organic funk-inspired dance music that needs to be enjoyed live to be believed.
